Last November in Stockholm, the journalism and fact-checking community came together for Fojo Verify Day 2025, an important event focused on verification in election times and the growing threat of “slopaganda” – propaganda amplified through generative AI.

The event brought together expert voices, practical workshops, and forward-looking discussions about how newsrooms tackle misinformation and disinformation today.

At Truly Media, we were honored to participate in this flagship gathering hosted by Fojo Media Institute, where journalists and verification practitioners from across Europe explored the most current methodologies for combating manipulated content and maintaining trust in news coverage.

A highlight of the day was our interactive workshop led by Christos Gavalas and Spyridoula Markou, where we introduced the Truly Media platform as an end-to-end solution for newsroom verification workflows.

Participants engaged with the platform’s capabilities firsthand, exploring how technology can support collaborative evidence gathering, digital investigation, and structured verification even in the face of high-volume and rapidly evolving information streams.

Our session emphasized a core principle that guides Truly Media’s development: technology must evolve to meet real journalistic challenges, especially as emerging AI-driven disinformation becomes more sophisticated and ubiquitous.

Throughout the workshop, we demonstrated how Truly Media’s features help teams analyze content, organize findings, and work together efficiently – all while preserving transparency and editorial rigor.

Fojo Verify Day also offered a rich lineup of keynote presentations and expert discussions. Notable voices included Glenn Kessler, widely regarded as one of the world’s leading fact-checkers, and Derek Bowler from the European Broadcasting Union, who shared insights on collaborative verification networks.

These sessions underscored the urgency of strengthening journalistic verification practices, particularly in an election context (Sweden heads into an election year in 2026) where information manipulation poses risks to democratic discourse.

Events like Fojo Verify Day remind us that fact-checking isn’t just a technical challenge – it’s a human one, rooted in teamwork, training, and shared tools that empower journalists to find truth in complexity.

We extend our gratitude to Andreas Önnerfors and the Fojo team for the invitation and the opportunity to connect with colleagues committed to elevating verification standards across borders.

As the information landscape continues to evolve, we remain deeply committed to supporting newsrooms with technology that enhances collaboration, drives efficiency, and ultimately helps journalists deliver accurate, trustworthy reporting – wherever the story leads next.
